Enjoy a beach ride on the horses or a ride on the pair of bicycles at the house, or even 4 wheeling in Tamarindo. Take an afternoon and sunset cruise on board the single hull tall ship sailing boat The Antares, with all meals and drinks included! All can be arranged.

The pacific waters here are warm all year round and offer plenty of entertainment both in it and out. At certain times of the year you may happen to notice whales playing just offshore. The location is perfect. We are a short walk to Junquillal beach. It is an easy walk to the grocery store and a few restaurants, but enjoyable having a car to explore all the other fun restaurants and places around. The house is well equipped if you choose to cook. The pool is perfect after a walk from the beach. We mostly live in bathing suits. The apartment is secure and private.
The village of Junquillal (Hun-key-al) remains unspoiled, a haven for those looking to spend their precious leisure time on the road less traveled. The village is home to only about 200 residents. Local Costa Ricans (Ticos) as well as international ex-patriots call this area home. If you’re looking for a laid-back, quiet and authentic setting with easy access to all kinds of options, you’ll love it here. Playa Junquillal is also conveniently located 30 minutes from Tamarindo if you fancy an evening of nightlife and action, maybe a trip to the casino there. There are a few other beach towns dotted along the way that should be visited such as Lola’s in Playa Avellanas and surf breaks & yoga at The Peace Retreat in Playa Negra, just a short drive up the coast.
The Junquillal Super is a grocery store carrying local and fruits and vegetables and everything you need for snacks and full meal making and liquor store. 5 minutes walk from our house. In the same plaza you'll find the Paraiso Cafe for breakfast options or a morning latte. If you fall in love with Junquillal there is a real estate office there too!! Great restaurants are available in the area ranging from typical Costa Rican dishes to French cuisine or take-out pizza. We can also arrange personal cook for your private in house dining. 24 hour min notice needed.

Guests have access to the whole guest apartment, anywhere on property grounds, pool, outside shower, laundry and to use all the beach equipment, including mask, snorkel & fins, beach chairs, cooler, 2 bicycles, boogie boards and surf boards... all the good stuff!

We will be available when needed, but otherwise we stay out of your space. We have all the local knowledge and as your concierge, can arrange lessons & trips and tours, sailboat, ATVs, waterfalls, volcanos, zip lining, massages or in-home prepared meals. Anything that you like to complete your Costa Rica experience! When you are ready to depart we are happy to take you through the Covid test process which is quick and simple! The ocean water/beach quality in Junquillal is excellent. It is so good, in fact, that year after year, the area wins the coveted Blue Ecological Flag, an annual award, which awards effort and volunteer work in the pursuit of conservation and development, in accordance with the protection of natural resources, implementation of actions to address the Climate change, the search for better hygienic sanitary conditions and the improvement of the public health of the inhabitants of Costa Rica and beach cleanliness. It improves the quality of water for human consumption, protection of water resources, and treatment of waste water. Many homes in other towns are on wells, which do run dry, but in Junquillal we have great water pumped from the aquafer many feet below.
The beaches in Junquillal offer some of the best surf casting fishing experiences that can be had anywhere in the world. There are great surf breaks that encompass the needs of the beginner to the adventurous expert, long board or short board, paddleboard or kayak. To the north of Junquillal beach you will find Playa Blanca, a delightful white sand swimming beach bordered by a rocky outcrop with many tide pools, great for playing or snorkeling, a little bit further you arrive at the world-class surf of Playa Negra. Surfing and stand-up paddle boarding lessons and rentals are readily available for all.
At the southern most end of Junquillal is where the road ends at the estuary of the Rio Nandamojo. A river and lagoon has formed behind the beach and a mangrove forests extends inland. Area kayak tours/ SUP Yoga and paddle boarding are offered so you can venture up the river to admire the intriguing water jungle with its flora and fauna, monkeys, birds and maybe a possible crocodile sunning on a riverbank. Around low tide - 2 hours before and after - you can cross the Rio Nandamojo by foot. A hike along the coast yields a fantasyland of beach wilderness where you can get lost in time collecting shells and taking in the views. The estuary is a favorite place for locals who fish with hand lines and on some weekends you see families having a picnic enjoying Costa Rican 'Pura vida' with a barbecue on the beach or river of freshly caught fish.
This is the real Costa Rican experience, only a 2 minute drive to the most stunning beaches in the country, no crowds, empty and pristine beaches with the most perfect waves in the continent, there are all kinds of waves in this area, from point breaks for experts surfers to sandy beaches with 1 or 2 foot waves for beginners, and after a long day of surfing, kayaking, yoga, horseback riding, or just doing nothing laying on the beach enjoying in the sun, relax on a comfortable place with A/C, internet tv and Netflix, full kitchen, hot shower, Queen bed and the fastest and most reliable fastest internet in town! We will be always around to help with anything and to get the right people for all the daily activities available. This is the Pura Vida land and we want to make sure you enjoy it!

This apartment is bright and open with lots of air-flow. The house includes plenty of covered deck space so you can enjoy the outdoor tropical climate and bedroom has A/C for comfort during the night. Fully furnished, equipped and decorated with fun colorful style, attention to detail and comfort. Plenty of parking and laundry room available for guest use. Home has a fully enclosed floral fence and sliding gate.

Great location close to many beaches, very quiet and peaceful residential, surrounded of animals as howler monkeys, iguanas and a great variety of birds. Excellent space distribution with an always refreshing swimming pool. Very secure and close to restaurants and supermarkets.

Plenty of beach and trail walking around. Walk to restaurants and grocery store. While there is an excellent daily bus service in and around Junquillal, most guests prefer to rent a car at some point so they can explore further afield. If you choose to rent it should be an AWD vehicle. Most rental companies have many small AWD cars to choose from. We are happy to help you with the right rental choices. Contact us before booking! It looks easy on line, but it's not, you will end up paying a lot more than you think!

We welcome well behaved pets with a pet fee of $5 per pet per night and will be added once you have made your reservation. Before booking please let me know what type/size of dogs you will be bringing. Always good to be prepared as we have dogs too. We request that you have a cover or blanket with you to protect our furnishings if you pet is likely to want to climb on sofa or bed.
